Winchester St – large new commercial
I have never encountered a site before that has carried with it every aspect of engineering. From standard limestone retaining walls 5.5m high that are 5.5m wide at the base! Along with concrete piles 4.5m high then 460 universal beam 3 metres high with concrete panel inwalls for retaining. Parts of the building panels were275mm thick with double Reo Steel for retaining and the building has 9m concrete piles of 70 ton loading with a 1.2 x 500 x 700 counter levering beam over them to support the concrete panels on some boundaries. As there is no sewerage, we have opted to use a new ecco sewerage system operating with worms to purify the sewerage water ready for irrigating. This unit is capable of servicing 25 people. The site consists of 6 separate units ranging from 400 sqm through to 1800 sqm. The site excavations encountered some problems when we discovered that someone had buried tons and tons of waste plaster over 40 years ago, not something one would expect to find on doing siteworks.
